Parish Nurse Health Tips 06-05-16

Summertime is here early! Our school dismissed for the summer, and many other schools will soon follow. As you pack for the summer activities, road trips, camping, day excursions, etc., I hope you have taken time to make sure you have some very important documents completed in case of emergency:

  • A card for each family member that has: Name, age, emergency contact info, medical conditions, medications, physician contact information;
  • A copy of medical insurance coverage attached to the above card;
  • A copy of health care directives and contact info for those listed to help in time of need.

Carry all of this info in an easily accessible place and put a note in your ID folder telling where it is –a common place is a first aid kit for automobile or backpack that can hold the info packet.

I am searching for volunteers to provide short informational articles on a health care subject in their field of expertise. We have many health care workers and professional educators within our family, and I know we would all benefit from their knowledge on health topics. Please prayerfully consider being a resource to our health ministry in this way. Let me know your area, leave an article for me to use, or call or email me for more information. My email is on our web page or through the church office. Please share your knowledge to help us inform and educate and increase awareness about health topics that might be helpful to many of our faith family.
“Body, Mind and Spirit together equals whole health. Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important for it promises a reward in both this life and the next. This is true and everyone should accept it.” 1 Timothy 4:7-9 (NLT).
Please email me or put a note on my desk, or call and leave a message if I can be of any help to you.
