CURRICULUM


THE CURRICULUM OF PEACE LUTHERAN SCHOOL is based upon the curriculum guide for Lutheran Elementary Schools entitled, "Integrating the Faith," as well as the curriculum guides for Washington State Essential Learning requirements. There is an opportunity for parents to have input on the curriculum process through the use of questionnaire worksheets and surveys. Peace Lutheran School is known for its strong academic program.

The following courses are offered:

Readiness Program in Kindergarten
Religion and Religion Memory Work
Reading (a phonetic and whole language based program)
Printing and Cursive Writing
Spelling
English Grammar and Composition
Social Studies        
Washington State History
Science (using several hands-on activities)
Mathematics
(individualized placement for students in grades 5-8)
Music (classroom, choral, bells and band)
Spanish
Art
Physical Education/Life Sports
Computer
Literature (including study of classic novels)


Peace Lutheran School endeavors to offer a curriculum that will challenge the student's intellect.

A complete listing of the scope and sequence is available at the school office. Parents who would like further information about the curriculum should meet with the principal and the teacher of the appropriate grade.

Peace Lutheran is accredited by Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and National Lutheran Schools Accreditation

Textbooks assist instructors as they meet curriculum goals.

Textbooks Used at Peace are selected by the faculty and adopted by the School Board, Selection is based upon pre-determined improvement goals.

When the best available text does not reflect a Christian perspective, the information in the text will be supplemented and /or critiqued in class.
